Contemporary Media Issues- Making a Game

This assignment is to make a game in the screen school.
well seeing as the screen school is soooooo big we thought that we would devise a game that made it easy and fun to get around "Chutes and Catapults" like snakes and ladders but more fun, going through the screen school to reach the end goal: The Automatic
Students must answer questions correctly to progress to the next room on the human catapult, but if they answer incorrectly 3 times in a row they take the chute back a room.
Ingenious!!

Heres a Prezi we made about the game:

Contemporary Media Issues- WIKI MAKING!

More Wikis

:( personally I don't like them, but you got'a do what you got'a do.
So this time we had to make a Wiki about a topic in a book we were assigned, ours was "Transmedia storytelling" from the book "Convergence Culture, by Henry Jenkins"

This is the link to the main page of the Wiki we created, I put some pictures and a great video on there that explains what transmedia storytelling is:
http://contemporarymediaissues.wetpaint.com/page/Transmedia+Storytelling

I also added some threads to this Wiki with some other examples:

The last link has a link to a prezi I made about Harry Potter as an example of how transmedia storytelling is used in real life, this is the link to that prezi:

Production Practice- PEOPLE ON THE MOVE

Made some progress on our ideas about our story
get this....

We aren't only going to follow one person, we are going to swap through 6 people until we get back to the first person!! So we follow one person, until they bump into another, then follow that person until they meet someone else and so on until we come full circle back to our original character!! Pretty clever right!?

We have sorted everything out, locations, props characters, THE LOT so now all we need to do is film and then edit it.... lets see how that goes....

Production Practice- new assignment PEOPLE ON THE MOVE

This assignment is to create a short film showing a journey.
Our groups got a few ideas going on but so far the most popular one is a story shown through only showing shots of peoples feet, no head shots or anything! My God we know how to make things difficult for ourselves! Not yet sure what the actual story is going to be but we are liking this feet idea :)

Contemporary Media Issues- WIKI MAKING!

Well this was my first time making a wiki, everyone brought an article in and teamed up with people of similar articles to create a wiki that would link them all together.

I had an article about google TV and joined the group about issues int he media as google TV represents a way in which we can engage with TV in a new way, combining two media powerhouses and countless other platforms, I discussed some of the issues this might raise

This is the link to the thread I added to our Wiki:

First assignment (Production Practice)

MAKE A PHOTO STORYBOARD!!!!

Sounds dead easy but in reality its quite hard!
We had a few varying ideas but settled on this one:

"Pop quiz gets announced in school, three daring students dress up as ninjas and break into the university to steal the answer sheet the night before the exam and then ace it!!! Apart from the token idiot of the gang haha :)"

Pretty good idea I think, funny and exciting, loads of opportunity for some great artistic photos... plus we get to dress up as ninjas ;)

lets see how it goes.

Starting A Blog

Starting a Blog is nothing new to me, (I made a blog in A-level to record and present work and research) but using blogging as a personal as well as academic tool... whoa. New experience all together!

Back story:

- moved away from home to study MPS at LJMU. Currently loving it ;)

- I chose to do Media because after doing it from GCSE and A-Level I thought I was a bit of a hot shot (I’m joking) Actually, I just loved the way that media is evolving into an almost omnipresent being that is involved in every aspect of our day to day lives and I wanted to learn more about it and get into the action. I’m always one to be in the thick if things ;)

- I so far have attempted to do a variety of print work and have made some pretty good mock adverts and stuff, I have also voluntarily written quite a bit in my local newspaper
http://www.maltbynews.co.uk/index.html

And I have had some atrocious attempts at doing trailers and video's during my coursework from year 9 in school to today.

- As far as my future in the media goes, who knows what will happen, they said we could never get to the moon, well now we can take holidays there so who knows, maybe one day I will be the editor of Vogue :) or a novelist (fingers crossed)

- Finally I will say that I will give anything a go. That includes different types of media, films, games, online platforms, music, web building, anything that the media can construct I would like to consume and expand my knowledge of the ever expanding network. Maybe Tron already exists... who knows?
